Sibford School were deeply honoured to welcome Nick Winton as part of our marking of Holocaust Memorial Day.
Nick Winton is the son of Sir Nicholas Winton, who in 1938, organised the rescue of 669 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia as part of the Kindertransport.
This year’s theme, “Bridging Generations,” reminds us that remembrance does not end with those who lived through the Holocaust. It lives on through their children, grandchildren, and all of us who choose to listen, learn and carry those lessons forward.
Nick’s visit created a powerful bridge between past and present; inviting our pupils to engage thoughtfully with history, to reflect on moral courage, and to consider how memory can shape a more compassionate future.
In the Quaker spirit of reflection, we are grateful for the opportunity to pause, to listen deeply, and to renew our commitment to standing against hatred and prejudice in all its forms.
