Individual Success at the Heart of Sibford’s Best-Ever GCSE Results

Students at Sibford School are celebrating the strongest GCSE results in the school’s history, with record academic outcomes alongside some exceptional individual achievements.

Three quarters of Sibford pupils achieved grades 7–9 within their results and at the very highest level, pupils across the year group are celebrating multiple Grade 9s, with some exceptional individual performances.

There were also outstanding performances across individual departments. Every GCSE grade awarded in Music and Design Technology was at grades 7–9, while 83% of Higher Spanish grades and 57% of Higher Mathematics grades were also at this level.

Head Rebecca Evans said that while the record results demonstrate the academic ambition of the school, the individual stories behind them remain the most important measure of success.

“We are enormously proud that these are the strongest GCSE results in Sibford’s history. Three quarters of our pupils have the highest grades represented within their results, with pupils across the year group celebrating multiple Grade 9s. It demonstrates very clearly that young people achieve at the very highest academic level at Sibford.

“But what matters most to us is the individual behind every result. At Sibford, academic ambition has never meant expecting every young person to achieve the same thing. It means having the highest possible ambition for each individual.

“For one pupil, an extraordinary achievement might be multiple Grade 9s. For another, it might be securing a result that once seemed beyond their reach. The numbers cannot tell those stories, but as a school we know what sits behind every one of them.”

The results reflect strong performances across the breadth of Sibford’s curriculum, from mathematics, sciences and languages to humanities, technology and the creative arts.

Rebecca Evans added:

“Being an inclusive school and being academically ambitious are not competing ideas. In fact, we believe one strengthens the other. When young people are known, supported and challenged as individuals, they can achieve remarkable things.

“These may be the best GCSE results in Sibford’s history, but today isn’t really about records. It is about the young people, their individual journeys and what these results enable them to do next.

“We are incredibly proud of every one of them and look forward to seeing them continue to Shape Their Story.”
